When rekeying makes sense
- You've just moved in and don't know how many keys are out there
- A key has been lost or not returned by a contractor, tenant or ex-partner
- You want one key to open the front door, back door and garage entry door
Rekey or change the lock?
A lock change replaces the whole lock, which is the right call when the lock is damaged, worn or too low a grade. Rekeying keeps the lock and replaces the pins and springs inside the cylinder. If your locks are in good shape, rekeying usually costs less and gives the same result: only the new keys work.
What happens on the visit
The locksmith removes each cylinder, sets new pins to match a new key, tests the lock and cuts the keys you need. Keyed-alike setups are possible when the locks share the same keyway.
Price and booking
All visits include the $29 service call fee plus labor and any hardware; see the price list. Call 714-933-1270 or request a callback. Back to residential locksmith services.
